Be amoung legends who have wandered the streets of Old Town, Cottonwood. Mae West stayed in the hotel in the "Roaring Twenties" and again in the 1930's traveling from Broadway to Hollywood. John Wayne romanced Gail Russell here in 1946 during their filming of "Angel & the Badman". The hotel was in the movie "Stay Away, Joe", starring Elvis Presley in 1967. It is also seen in the 1946 movie "Desert Fury" starring, 'Lizabeth Scott, Burt Lancaster & John Hodiac and the 1992 movie "Dudes" starring Jon Cryer. All of these movies are available for viewing when your stay at the Cottonwood Hotel. "Universal Soldier" and others were filmed in Cottonwood and surrounding areas, also.

On a few occassions movie star Mae West spent a little time in Cottonwood speakeasies in the 20's between her trips from Broadway to Hollywood. She passed through again while she was in the area promoting her film, "I'm no Angel." in downtown Phoenix at the Orpheum Theater, in the Copper Square, in 1929.
