Cottonwood Arizona 4th of July Fireworks
STARGAZER or SKY WATCHER
you just never know what you might see in the northern Arizona skies from the Cottonwood Hotel balcony... Even a photographer will capture beautiful sunrises and sunsets along with fiery red rock skyline views of Sedona on the northeastern horizon. SHOOTING STARS, METEOR SHOWERS, UFO's... You may be wishing upon a falling star!
A spokesman from the National Trust said, "There are different times of the year when you can see meteor showers, but August is normally the best time because that's when the skies are the clearest."
AUGUST is right around the corner.
***We have amateurish Telescopes for viewing!
Or bring your own telescope and binoculars.
AUGUST 12, 13 ~PEAK TIME of PERSEIDS METEOR SHOWERS
The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. The thin, crescent moon will be out of the way early, setting the stage for a potentially spectacular show. For best viewing, look to the northeast after
11PM and between early morning hours.
Usually, good numbers of meteors should be seen on the preceding and following nights as well. The shower is generally at one-quarter strength one or two nights before and after maximum. A few Perseids can be seen as much as two weeks before and a week after the peak. The extreme limits, in fact, are said to extend from July 14 to Aug. 24, though an occasional Perseid meteor may be seen almost anytime during the month of August.
