The hotel's western toltec architecture was a popular design during the turn of the 19th century, along with the ornate tin ceiling in the office and hardwood floors throughout most of the building.

It is Cottonwood's oldest hotel and provides the most history in the Cottonwood, AZ Old Town revived Main Street area. Amoung legends wandering the streets of Old Town, Mae West stayed in the hotel in the "Roaring Twenties". John Wayne romanced Gail Russell here in 1946 during their filming of "angel & the Badman".
